Studying for Patho.... look at those feet, baby soft

Day 26 - Jan 26th

More studying....

Day 25 - Jan 25th

Mikey showing off our plethora of cereal... at least 12 boxes.  There was a sale at the store - we just couldn't pass it up.

Day 24 - January 24th

Mikey and I have a guilty pleasure, and that pleasure is to watch Maury... I know, white trash, ghetto, but it is so entertaining!  Especially the "You are Not the Father" episodes involving paternity tests.

Well, while watching an episode we came across something hilarious.  The old man accused of "cheatin' on his wife with a hoe" was wearing the SAME SWEATER that Mikey has!  We had to take a picture.  I think it looks better on Mikey ;).

I guess Mikey and the guy from "Maury" both like to shop at Express for Men ;)

Day 23 - January 23rd

Walk-study to the Costco

Day 22 - January 22nd

Day 21 - Jan 21

Poor Mikey - sick again!  But, we think it may be allergies.  In any case, we decided to try the "Netti-Pot" to help relieve some of his nasal symptoms and it really helped!  Apart from being a very weird and uncomfortable experience (you literally drain water from one nostril to another), it helped clear up his sneezing and we were able to have a productive study night.

Day 20 - Jan 20th

Here is our primary class trying to get eat the Oreos they won from our "Lesson Knowledge" game.  One kid, Hyrum, nailed it (which I didn't get on camera :( ....) but the rest had a little more difficulty.  Aren't they cute?  I know this isn't a picture of Mikey, but it has his voice so it counts.

Day 19 - Jan 19th

After some studying we decided to go to a place to play outdoor laser tag, and try our hand at the batting cages.  Mikey of course rocked both departments.  I think he looks like a legit player here.
Mikey at the batting cages - he hit the 70 mph ball!  I hit the "soft ball, slow pitch" ;)

Day 18 - Jan 18th

Friday!  Today we went to a Gyro place we got on a Groupon Deal.  Verdict = Delicious :)

Day 17 - Jan 17th

Today was a good day.  Mikey finished his exam, and does not have another scheduled for next week (so a bit of breathing room!).  We were able to go on a hike (Ashley) and then go to Chick-Fil-A for dinner.  We even got to watch a movie, Jeff Who Lives At Home, which Mikey and I really enjoyed (other than several scenes Mikey had to look away because he just couldn't stand the level of embarrassment/awkwardness).  At the end of the night I realized I had forgotten to take an image for the day, so I snapped a shot while Mikey was shutting down his computer.  Jeeze louise, I do love him.
Mikey giving me the "eye" for taking yet another picture of him.

Day 15 + Day 16 - Jan 15 + 16

I know, I know - a picture a day.  Well, I dropped the ball on the 15th.  So, to make up for it, here are two pictures from the 16th.  Both are pretty hillarious, so I think it makes up for the lack of picture yesterday.

We went on "walk-study" to Costco - this is Mikey laughing at a story I told.  Next, is Mikey trying to be cool as he stays up late to study for his big exam tomorrow.  He is so gangh-sta.

Day 14 - January 14th

Today Mikey had his big test, and his patient exposure, so to celebrate (and take a little break) we decided to go to Zuppas!  That is right, we found one in AZ, and it has been wonderful.

I asked Mikey to take a pic of himself in his outfit when he did his patient exposure.  How cute is my Dr. Bowes :)?  Now if I could only get him to smile....

Day 13 - January 13

Mikey was in full on study mode today for his big exam on Monday.  That means solo church for me, which actually was pretty fun. We have a new primary class, and although they are totally wild, a real highlight of my week.  After church I cleaned and did p90x2, and Mikey kept up the good fight against his notes.

Note: Mikey has been loving the music from Les Mis (the 1980's Broadway version) so the whole night was the 3rd act over, and over, and over again.  "Can you hear the people sing..." ... yes, yes I can.  Over and over again!
Mikey is pretty hardcore - 3 computer screens, and counting!

Day 12 - January 12th

Study, study, study.  We are lucky though to have a Panda Express right by our house, and so after our walk study (about 3.5 miles) we end up here.  Makes a long day of work/study not too terrible.

Day 11 - January 11th

The story of my life - Mikey studying, me working.  I thought this picture fit nicely.  Mikey asleep on the couch with the iPad he uses for his notes.  I can't wait for medical school to be done... 1 year down, about a billion more to go!  At least Mikey studies at home, that makes a big difference.

Why is he so cute?  He works so hard... he is going to be a great doctor.

Day 10 - January 10th

I had a headache at the end of the day and went to bed early.  But - when Mikey came in to go to sleep I told him he needed to take a picture of himself for my 365 project.  Here is the result.

Day 9 - January 9th

Colds hit Mikey like a truck - and unfortunately (the day before a big test) he was run over.  The cold began later in the day when we were doing "walk study" - I noticed he started to sniffle.  Then, by the time we got home, he was sneezing every few minutes, and starting to get lethargic.  Unfortunately for my poor husband, he still had a lot of notes left to go over for his exam.  This picture is how I left him at 2:30 am (I guess technically this picture is day 10, but we will count it for day 9) before I went to bed.  Tissues, drinks, and an iPad so low on charge he needed to sit next to the wall outlet so he could still study.  My poor husband.

Day 8 - January 8th

Dad came to visit us today while he was on a brief meeting in Phoenix.  Poor Mikey was in "study" mode for his test on Wednesday (and on Thursday... and on Monday.... never ending!)

We did happen to take a little break and visit "Soup -er- Salad" for dinner (see picture below).

Mikey enjoying a little frozen yogurt after dinner. Those are his "jazz" hands.

Day 6 - January 6th

Our church has moved to 11 am - and we were still late!  So, this officially means it is not the time that makes us late, but the Mikey ;).  When I was joking with Mikey about it he said "I don't see any reason to get to church early...".  So true.  It was a fun day in primary because we had a whole new class - it is crazy to see how much younger kids are when they are 7 going on 8, rather than 8 going on 9.  There is a big difference in maturity.  The kids were so cute, so young (we were reading scriptures and one child kept messing up on the word "the"... Mikey had to contain his laughter as we both couldn't help but think of Dumb and Dumber).  I love that age group.  Having a calling in the primary is seriously one of the best things - and being a co-teacher with Mikey makes it even better.  After church we went to the Bagel place (a Sunday tradition - they lady even knows our order - including no tomato on Mikey's!) The rest of the day consisted of Walk-study (seen below, excuse the blur, we were in motion and it was dark), video games, and sleep.  I a pretty good Sunday to end Mikey's winter break.

Mikey at the end of our Walk-Study.

Day 5 - January 5th

SATURDAY!  And, a Saturday with Mikey on Winter Break.... the best.  We had to wake up early to clean the church today (bathrooms + kitchen... worst duties...) but you only have to do it once every 2 years, so it wasn't terrible.  After that we came home for a bit of studying (even on break the studying never ends).  At about 2 pm we went to AZ on the Rocks (we had a Groupon) and did 2 hours of indoor rock climbing.  We both were able to master a 5.8, but the 5.9 proved to be a bit too tricky.  It is so fun - we are really loving rock climbing.  Then we used (yet another) Groupon and had linner at our favorite Burger place - Indulge.  It is a neat concept where you get to create your own burger.  Yesterday we watched the movie we rented from the library, The Bucket List, and so while we ate we created a list (including ride a camel while smoking a camel cigarette... can you guess who wanted that one?).  Later we came home and played Mario 64 (seen below), and watched Little Shop of Horrors (MIKEY LOVED IT!)

Getting a star on Mario 64 - can you believe he has never played this game before?!

Day 4 - January 4th

Today is Mikey's last day of "freedom" before Winter Break is over (his last long break ever...) and he starts school back in full force.  He has really been trying to study today... and I found him sitting on his favorite chair (don't worry, he is not using it, only sitting - he says it is the perfect spot for a "pacing" break).  That is what you get when you live in a small one-bedroom apartment, everything has a double use (Dining Room = office, Bathroom= Study)!

Tonight we go to Wrigley Mansion for dinner as a celebration of the last weekday of freedom.

Mikey taking a "sit down" from studying.  Don't worry, he is not actually using it ;)

Day 3 - January 3rd

We went on a hike today to climb Reid+Ashley, but we started out late so we could only make it to Ashley (and even that was a bit of a stretch - as you can see from the picture it was getting dark by the time we reached the top, which means about a 1 1/2 miles in the dark.  We know this trail like the back of  our hand though, so it wasn't too bad.)

This is Mikey gazing off at the City of Glendale on top of "Ashley" Mountain.

Day 2

Day 2 - January 2nd, 2013:

Mikey and I went to Castles'n'Coasters for the 3 hour unlimited arcade play (do I need to even express how awesome that is?)  This picture is Mikey playing the virtual reality tank game.  I love that man so much.

P.S. Mission: Impossible was pretty cool, score +1 for  Mikey.

When I showed Mikey this picture, he said "that makes for perfect blackmail".

365 Day Project

I have been inspired to try a 365 day project this year.  I know I have not posted anything on this blog since Switzerland, but one of my New Year's Resolutions is to become a better historian, and have a better place to store photos (other than Facebook).

This isn't for people to see - just a project for me.  They most likely will be 365 pictures/posts about Mikey, but he is my life, and I love him, so I think 365 pictures of him would be a perfect representation of my great life!

Here it is....

Day #1 - January 1st, 2013

Found out I had the day off work after working all morning!  After a few study hours for Mikey, we decided to go on a hike to Reid + Ashley Mountain (Map My Run says it was 6.61 miles, 17:25 pace, and took us 1h55m). After we went to Zuppas (DELICIOUS!  I am so glad we found one here in AZ).  Tonight we are going to watch a movie (Mikey wants Mission Impossible.... he has picked the last 6 movies, and they have all been fantastic.  I hesitate on Mission Impossible, but his other selections have been so great that maybe this will be a winner, too).
